The Senate Intelligence Committee voted on July 21 to advance the nomination of Jay Clayton, President Donald Trump’s pick to be the next director of national intelligence (DNI). The committee voted 9–8 to give a favorable recommendation to Clayton, who currently serves as the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York. Clayton received support from all of the Republican members of the committee, while all of the Democratic members voted against his nomination.
